FAQs

  • This is the most common question I get so if you’re not sure where to start you are in good company. In general I recommend sticking with earth tones (browns, tans, greens, creams, etc). I also recommend avoiding the color red and/or any colors that you would use as a highlighter (bright orange, bright pink, neon green, etc) as these colors will cast a reflection onto any lighter colors around them (including skin) and will give the images a slight hue. If you’re looking for more in depth styling I am happy to help! I have color palettes I can share with you, ideas for building out your families outfits from yours, and I can help with adding in textures as well. Don’t let not knowing what to wear stop you from booking! We will work together to find you the perfect look without breaking the bank or breaking a sweat!

  • When I say the possibilities are endless I mean it, but that also means that it’s easy to be overwhelmed by choices. If you already have a location in mind that is wonderful but if you’re not sure I am happy to work with you to find the best location for your session. I have a list of locations I have tested and have found to be gorgeous through my camera lens. Picking a specific location will likely be the least of your worries. I do ask that if you have any restrictions (walking distance, distance to and from your home, allergies, etc) you let me know when booking and we will make sure the location will accommodate these requests.

  • These sessions are great for a variety of reasons. First and foremost these sessions are not affected by weather making them ideal for colder months or those dog days of summer. These sessions are also a great choice if you have children who do better in enclosed spaces. In home sessions hold a special place in my heart because it offers a unique opportunity to capture those day to day moments that might be missed in the normal hustle of day to day activities. If you’re unsure which direction you want to go let’s chat!

  • A few things worth noting.

    • I do charge an additional $50 for family sessions that include more than 8 people. This is great for extended family!

    • I love it when you bring your pups so feel free to do so! Please just let me know so I can plan poses and location accordingly .

    • This is supposed to be fun but let’s be honest coordinating outfits, making sure everyone stays picture ready, and happy can be stressful! There’s no need to add to that stress so I have a few ideas to hopefully help you feel more at ease going into the session.

      • Bring snacks! I can tell you from experience that sometimes the best trick to real smiles is allowing your kids to eat snacks between poses.

      • Plan sessions for when you’re (and/or your kids, partner, etc) at your best. If you’re not a morning person a sunrise session is probably not a great fit for you. Or if your kids have a 8 PM bedtime don’t plan for a session any later than 6 PM.

      • Bring water! I know it can be a pain to carry around but nothing ruins a session faster than a thirsty kid or a dehydration headache.

      • If you or your partner (kids, etc) has a habit of squinting in the sun pick out some cute sunglasses for the whole family! I PROMISE the sunglasses will look way cuter than squinting eyes.

      • Feel free to bring someone to help! If your kid listens best when grandma is around bring her! Or if you want to bring the family pet but you don’t want them in every photo bring a friend to hold/entertain them. Not sure if your kid will look at the camera? Bring someone to stand behind me that can make noises, faces, etc (grandpa’s are always crazy good at this)!

      • If you’re having a day that you just can’t seem to bounce back from don’t hesitate to reach out. Teething babies, tense couples, and sick kids are just a few examples of moods that can ruin a session completely. There are a lot of things we can work around but if your kid is miserable or in pain or your partner and you are having one of those days where just looking at each other makes your blood boil… IT’S BETTER TO RESCHEDULE. I will work with you to pick a new session date and time and you won’t be charged for rescheduling. I can’t stress this enough… don’t fight through it just for the sake of photos… PLEASE RESCHEDULE.
