NEWBORN SESSIONS
First and foremost I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS! Whether you’re pregnant, a new mom, a soon to be auntie, or a grandmother of a sweet little bundle of joy this babe is going to change your life in all of the best ways! There is no doubt that a new baby is a momentous occasion that deserves to be celebrated, cherished, and remembered long after your sweet babe isn’t quite so little anymore. Newborn sessions are so special and it’s important to me that no one feels stressed or rushed during these sessions so they do run closer to two hours just to ensure we get the shots we want and to allow you to make sure your new addition is as comfortable as possible throughout the session. I am also happy to include other children, mom & dad, grandparents, or pets in these sessions so everyone is able to participate if that is something you are interested in.

There is no wrong time to do a newborn session. I generally recommend newborn sessions take place within the first two weeks of being home. Booking the session within the first two weeks will allow for the most sleepy and snuggly photos. However, if you’re babe is already born or you want to wait a little longer before doing your session that is not a problem at all. My number one priority will always be your safety, comfort, and peace of mind.

This is a great question! I understand that due dates aren’t always a guarantee and I plan accordingly. I have found that the best way to go about scheduling these sessions is to book based off of your due date, and then as your due date approaches we will reschedule as needed. I do leave multiple times open each month to account for any movement in due dates. Think of the original date we book as a sort of “place holder” it allows me to ensure it’s on the books, but it’s not something that I consider to be set in stone.

The last thing I want is for you to be frantically picking up or stressing before the session. With that in mind I will bring equipment with me to help with lighting, backgrounds, etc. These sessions generally work best if you have a window that allows a good amount of light into your home, but like I said we can absolutely work with whatever you’ve got! So all of this to say that you need little to no preparation for an at home session.

I offer both at home sessions as well as studio sessions for newborn sessions. Which type of session will be right for you mostly comes down to personal preference. At home sessions offer the comfort of a familiar place and allows you to avoid having to travel to and from a location. At home sessions are also a bit more flexible in regards to timing, these sessions allow for sessions to run a little longer if need be. Studio sessions are great if you’re concerned about lighting in your home, or if you have a specific look, theme, or color scheme in mind that doesn’t match what you have at home. Studio sessions are also great if you are a person who likes hard deadlines or timelines as we rent the space by the hour so there will be a hard end time. It’s a decision that ultimately depends on your personal preferances. If you’re not sure which one would be the best fit for you please don’t hesitate to reach out and I can help you decide!
